I believe that James Van Hise, the editor, contacted me for this cover
piece. He wanted an image that included the television Enterprise and
the new Enterprise from "Star Trek: the Motion Picture". I felt the new
ship was an updated reflection of the first but reversed the idea, in order
to feature the new ship. I provided a longer format, than was needed, so
they could 'float' the image, within their type, as needed.
